To complete the entertainment center, I added a bridge to connect the top of the two bookcases and provide more room for books.  This part of the entertainment center was fairly easy to build, but I was worried that when I put all the pieces together they would not fit or be level.   I measured everything again before I made any cuts just be sure, and to my surprise, everything fit together nicely.

  • 2 @  53 in

  • 2 @ 6 in

Project Plan:

Step 1:  Attach two anchor pieces (2×8 @ 6 in)  to 53 in bridge with 2 1/2 in screws.  I attached them with 2 inches overlapping the bridge leaving 4 inches to connect to the bookcase.

Step 2:  Sand pieces.

Step 3:  Paint or stain pieces.

Step 4:  Attach bridge to bookcases with 2 1/2 in screws.

Step 5:  Insert adjustable shelf or attach with pocket holes.

Here is the completed entertainment center.  It was a lot of work, but I absolutely love it.
